I've got some money coming in, I'd like to get something to work with.
I do a fair amount of night club type events, music and dancing, so low light is needed. But also I'd like one with decent sound recording, too.
(Though that depends more on the sound person and the sound system than whatever I have in the camera).

I'd also like to be able to capture some of the animals around my place, so I guess a pretty decent zoom is in order also.

I'm kinda attracted to using Flash Card for storage rather than tapes or mini hard drives,

I think I like the specs on the Sony HD Cx12, but I'm not really sure what I'm looking at.
