... digital effects for small-bud & independent films. We don't typically do robots & explosions (although we have). Instead, we collaborate with filmmakers to work within their budget and fill-in the "gaps" with digital technology. We maximize resources by cleaning up footage (and avoiding reshoots), adding digital backgrounds and sets, creating effects, and enhancing stunts that are impossible to complete within any budget. This year, you'll see our work in these films: "Sherman's Way," "Miss March," "Happiness Runs," and "(500) Days of Summer."
How much will it cost? Every project is different, but on a typical small budget film, plan on spending about 3% of your total budget on visual effects and cleanup with us. Plan for it, even if you don't think you'll need it. "I don't need it," you might say, " because there are no visual effects in my script." Well, lots of things can go wrong on set when you have limited time and resources. We can fix many of the issues that would normally send you back to reshoots. We can combine the performances of separate takes so you get the scene you need. We can replace signs and artwork that you couldn't get clearance for. We can remove that crew member that nobody caught in the mirror reflection. We can erase safety rigs and other elements from stunt setups. We do greenscreen, sky replacement, and set extension. We can remove or reduce camera shake, dust, scratches, and video glitches. On average, we save our clients between $200,000 and 1,000,000 in costs on every production. Obviously, everyone needs to work intelligently at every stage of production to make sure you're getting the most bang for you buck. Bring us in early, during preproduction and we can help you reduce our costs for you, as well.
